The night I discovered “Fix This”

Every year the Siroco room is holding a series of concerts in early summer called “Operation Bikini ‘. This past Friday we went to the concert of joyous Aline & the Splendids, who inaugurated the season.
Anyway, we arrived in time to see the openers. Fix This so composed that night by 7 musicians. A beautiful flute, a trombone, a bass with a hat, a guitar, drums, a chorus, and vocals.
Too bad there was not enough audience at the beginning of the show.
Cursed be the sound technician who left the chorus micro too low.
Fix This overwhelmed from the stage with funk arguments rage, inside out bouncing inside our heads,  legs becoming restless, and hands snapped to the beat of the delight that the band gave us. How great is the voice of the singer. What a hurricane, what an earthquake. They started with a sublime version of The Cure, to continue with a few songs at full speed. (Incidentally, the wonderful version they made of the Propellerheads) and the audience stood up and pinned the meters that were between the stage and the mob, dancing and fallowing the rhythm overflowing of the stage.

And how big are these Toledians! We were encouraged to follow them, to cheer, dance. All the musicians were great. But of course I must mention the incredible voice of the lead singer and the perfect backing vocals that accompanied it. It was the voice that made us all think about the legacy of Janis Joplin herself. A delightful inheritance, a Toledo Bengal tiger.
And the concert ended too soon. Although it had lasted a century it would have been over too soon.
We were blown away, forgotten beer on the seat, Fix This music pounding in our heads like an incredible echo in the Grand Canyon. And suddenly, the hollow.
Paco Clavel, escorted by two fat joke that made tacky, sang fragments of vulgarity and folly, and then remembered that we were on the tenth anniversary of the Operation Bikini ‘. He could memorize a dozen names. Could not provide a coordinated half show. He could not but offer ridiculous embarrassment. Sultry, full of flaws and hypocritical, marred a party that promised to honor the best music. A total blunder, in my opinion.

Aline & The Splendids have increased dramatically in number and quality. Many changes I have noticed when I jumped onto the stage. This time they had a keyboard, drums, guitar, bass, and the splendid voice. Aline & The Splendids move comfortably in reggae, jazz, soul, and as much as they want. But not convinced. The stakes were too high. Fix This was blitzkrieg and they had made us prisoners. A pity, because the quality of Aline and splendid was capital, but a nonsensical chorus at first and very enthusiastic with their keyboardist, wow! untimely jettisoned the expectations. They gave a good concert, but tiny compared to Fix This.

Fix This, roads are for summer

If you want sun this summer, take heed of our special summer music and travel to the south. But if, in fact, what really is expected of summer soul (or derivatives),is a live concert that makes you sweat, do not move from your city. Wherever you live, some band will be playing close.

Look if not Fix This, in addition to being one of the finalists bands to be hosted by the 2nd National African-American Music Contest “Enclave de agua”, and have closed a handful of dates spread throughout Spain. They are still orphans of LP, but they speak wonders of their live sets.

They themselves say that every one of their concerts is different. Not that they enjoy playing more hands topics of this business, but it is taken with a sense of humor. On stage, his training never count on a fixed number of musicians (members often roam the dozen). Although the backbone is formed by Cesar Merino (bass), Nacho Cherokee (guitar), Jhaviman (trombone), Lorali (voice) and Serch (drums).

The combo is just a year old, but we would not be wrong if we say that they already have one bid of black music’s most interesting national scene. Not only that they are capable of playing styles such as soul, jazz and gospel, and serve as a great band in instrumental. They also have a marvelous vocalist.
